Since time immemorial, human beings are governed by the law of proximity. It is a pleasure as well to join distinguished colleagues and experts, here on the panel and around the room, on the role of frontier technologies in shaping the future of our cities and achieving sustainable development.Īs we discuss the future of our cities, we must remind ourselves that the future itself IS cities and our major challenge is how do we build our own future in the cities of the future! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to this event during the High Level Political Forum (HLPF).Ī privilege indeed to host this dialogue with the World Resources Institute Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, UN Habitat and the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the UN.
